Shikwati to Receive Walter-Scheel-Prize 2015

The Board of Directors of the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung fur die Freiheit unanimously nominated Mr. James Shikwati, the Founder Director of the Inter Region Economic Network (IREN Kenya) to receive the “Walter-Scheel-Prize 2015 for Commitment to Development Cooperation.”

The citation focuses on his work over the years on Foreign Aid debate; need for Africa to foster individual initiative in development matters; the push for competitiveness-expanded entrepreneurship opportunities to tap into the continent’s vast resources and the importance of investments in African people to promote freedom and economic success.

The award ceremony will take place September 8, 2015 at the Villa Hammerschmidt in Bonn, Germany. Mr. Shikwati will share the Walter-Scheel-Prize-2015 with a leading German Physicist Prof. Dr. Eicke R. Weber from Freiburg University. Learn More...

The 10th SIFE Kenya National Business and Entrepreneurship Competition

Venue: Sarova Panafric Hotel, Nairobi
Date: June 30, 2012
Time: 7.00am - 4.30pm

Over 40 top CEOs and MDs from 26 corporations will spend 10 hours with top university student members drawn from 16 SIFE Kenya affiliate universities (both public and private) during the 10th SIFE Kenya National Business and Entrepreneurship Competition. An estimated 600 university students will participate. An additional 9 universities will participate on Observer status.

The objectives of this forum include:-

•To expose business leaders to unique business development opportunities
•To expose university students to leadership challenges and opportunities
•To showcase business and entrepreneurship projects by SIFE Kenya affiliate universities in a bid to win the coveted national title and travel to USA in October 2012 for the SIFE World Cup competition.

The 2012 SIFE Kenya National champion will participate at the SIFE World Cup in Washington D.C, USA. September 30 – October 3, 2012.

Background about SIFE Kenya

SIFE Kenya was launched in 2003 as a partnership between SIFE International and the Inter Region Economic Network (IREN). SIFE is an international organization mobilizing university students around the world to make a difference in their communities through outreach projects while developing skills to be socially responsible business leaders.

SIFE Kenya operates under the advice of the SIFE Kenya Business Advisory Council whose membership includes business leaders from both the private and public sectors. With an annual membership of over 600 active students from 16 Kenyan universities (both public and private), SIFE Kenya has nurtured over 3,000 young business leaders for the last 9 years.
